Scottish Academy Pan-British Group
Each year a group of British and Japanese people gather together in front of the British POW grave in Mie to commemorate the brave men who died there. During the outdoor ceremony a member of The British Consulate lays a wreath on behalf of The Pan-British Group of which your The St. George's Society is, of course, a member.

A member from The Kansai St Andrews Society and the Headmistress of The Scottish Academy also lay wreaths. After the ceremony there is an optional boat trip down the river. Beautiful scenery! Later in the evening there is a barbeque and fireworks are set off on the banks of the river in true Guy Fawkes fashion.

The next morning after spending a night at a beautifully situated hotel, with swimming pool, residents of the Kiwa-cho area, many of whom tend the grave all year round, take us on a trip to the local tangerine fields where we are allowed to gather tangerines for our own consumption. Anyone interested in joining us will be happy to know that a private bus is hired. The bus will pick up and drop off at Scottish Academy in Osaka.
